Granite is one of the most commonly used stones for application in the home. These stones are quarried in various parts of the world, and since granite is a natural product, variation between slabs is common. Also, because granite is formed over long periods of time, microscopic air holes are inherent in the material, making sealing of natural stone necessary to prevent staining.
The color and texture of granite depends on where the stone is quarried and the chemical makeup of the stone. Variation across slabs exists, but the variations are pleasing and are part of the inherent beauty of natural products. When choosing colors based on samples, keep in mind the overall color scheme desired, but leave some room for natural variation.
